  • Khajuraho, a temple town listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Site, is known mainly for its nagara style architecture and erotic sculptures. Built mainly by Chandela dynasty between 950 and 1050 AD, records show that about 85 temples were built across 20 sq. kilometer of area, present day surviving temples are about 20 spread over 6 sq. kilometers. The architecture is profusion of immaculate details, intricate carvings and beautiful inscriptions mixing together the expressiveness and symbolism of ancient Indian art.
